Palin behaved unethically

Sarah Palin got a very big, bruising, purple slap on the wrist yesterday when 12 members of the Alaska Legislative Council voted unanimously to release the “Troopergate” report to the public. The report, which had been prepared for the past several months by Special Investigator Branchflower. The report is almost 300 pages long, but there are four basic findings:

1. “For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I [Special Investigator Branchflower] find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statue 39.59.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statue 39.52.110(a) provides:

“The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.”

2. I find that, although Walt Mongegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

3. Harbor Adjustment Service of Anchorage, and its owner Ms. Murleen Willkes, handled Trooper Michael Wooten’s workers’ compensation claim properly and in the normal course of business like any other claim processed by Harbor Adjustment Service and Ms. Willkes. Further, Trooper Wooten received all the workers’ compensation benefits to which he was entitled.

4. The Attorney General’s office has failed to substantially comply with my August 6, 2008 written request to Governor Sarah Palin for information about the case in the form of emails.

Here’s a link to the full report

So for those of you who have been waiting, there it is. Sarah Palin did very, very bad, and behaved unethically, just what we need in another VP.

Palin is Guilty but did nothing wrong

So, which is worse? The fact Sarah Palin abused the powers of her office in carrying out a personal vendetta? Or the fact that she and the McCain campaign apparently still think there was nothing wrong with doing so?

Note: Is it just me or anytime those GOP nuts are found Guilty of something they seem to think they have done no wrong? We have had 8 years of crap like this and I dont think Americans will allow it to continue!

Palin free to incite murder

On the heels of a McCain supporter yelling that Obama was a “terrorist” today – and McCain said nothing in response to admonish the supporter – the Washington Post reports (via ThinkProgress) that a Palin supporter at one of her rallies today yelled for Obama to be assassinated after Palin, again, told the lie that some of Obama’s best friends are terrorists:

“Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers,” Palin said.

“Boooo!” said the crowd.

“And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, ‘launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,’” she continued.

“Boooo!” the crowd repeated.

“Kill him!” proposed one man in the audience.

Palin went on to say that “Obama held one of the first meetings of his political career in Bill Ayers’s living room, and they’ve worked together on various projects in Chicago.”

Palin went on?

What an Excuse, umm defense

The rocket scientists handling damage control for Sarah Palin have come up with yet another excuse . . . I mean defense . . . in the Troopergate scandal. Palin didn’t fire the state’s public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, because he refused to fire her former brother-in-law, they explain. Heaven forbid — nothing could be further from the truth.

No, the reason she fired Monegan was because he was overly zealous — to the point of insubordination — in insisting on pursuing federal funding to help with Alaska’s epidemic of sex offenses, including, in particular, sex crimes against children. Palin, it seems, had other priorities.

Wow, hell of a defense, Sarah, really — sort of like confessing to a murder in order to establish an alibi in a burglary trial.

Palin is Dick Cheney in pumps

If you haven’t read The New York Times’ in-depth exposé on Sarah Palin’s leadership style in Alaska, read it now. It’s a long piece, but well worth the reading.

Josh Marshall has a good overview of the article:

(It shows Palin to be) a small-minded person who populates her administration with cronies and grade-school friends, fires those who dare to criticize her and uses the power of her office to pursue personal vendettas. In other words, someone in the habit of abusing official power who should not be let within a mile of being president.

Remind you of someone? Yup, Dick Cheney.

Seriously, I strongly recommend against going hunting with this woman.

She might shoot you in the face.
